In this webinar, Elizabeth Arnaud, Lead of the Crop Ontology project at the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, summarizes the objective of the Crop Ontology, its constant development, latest updates, and future addition of quality traits. She also explains good practices for engaging with Crop Ontology and Planteome and introduces the Crop Ontology curators and key current collaborators or users.

Two breeding support platforms that have used the Crop Ontology for more than a decade are presented: the Integrated Breeding Platform by Corina de Luna Habito, Regional Deployment Manager at the Integrated Breeding Platform, and Breedbase by Lukas Mueller, leader of Mueller Laboratory at Boyce Thompson Institute. Speakers explain the role of their platforms, the current use, and the specific role that the Crop Ontology plays for the multi-location evaluation data capture and storage in the databases.
